MMORPGs, or MMOs as they have come to be known, those Massively Multiplayer On-Line Role Playing Games. We're sure someone out there can provide a detailed time line tracing the evolution from RPG to computer text adventures to MUDs to the first MMOs. Not us, that sound like way too much work. We're just here to give a rundown of various MMOs that have either caught our attention or annoyed us in some way. Sometimes both.
MMOs, as anyone who played RPGs can tell you, can suck away time like a Dyson. They can provide a sense of community and a great relief for the stress and strain of every day life. Like any interest, some folks develop obsessions. The genre is not at fault, no matter what wacko talking heads may say. The people whining and complaining about MMOs need to stop obsessing and move on.
That's our in-depth and informed psychological opinion. You may give it all consideration it is due.
